Typesy EDU: Lesson Plans for Interactive Curriculum

Having an interactive curriculum helps many students learn better and faster. When students have interactive curriculums they will listen better and be happier to learn compared to traditional learning. As an admin, you will have access to using the interactive curriculum for your students. This may not be the right step for all students, however, it is another method that will make it much easier for some to learn. Other students may prefer traditional methods. With that being said, let’s take a look at how you find your lesson plans.

How to Find Your Lesson Plan

The first thing you need to do is go to your course information screen. You can get to this by clicking Admin and then go under the classes tab. Under the classes tab, you will click clas sand then curriculum. You will now go under the interactive tab.

There is now a new section for your lesson plans that include interactive curriculums. This will only have interactive curriculums for now. There will be another addition soon that will add lesson plans for each curriculum that is available. This will make it much easier to navigate and use the program as an admin.

What is an Interactive Curriculum?

Interactive curriculums are provided so that you can get an interactive learning experience. This makes learning more enjoyable and much easier for students. It will also allow students to be more engaged in the activity. When you use interactive curriculums you are going to allow students to learn faster and better understand the material. It is a non-traditional way of teaching that helps all students learn. By utilizing traditional and non-traditional methods, you will allow everyone to learn how they like.

Why Typesy?

Typesy is a great way for students to learn how to properly type. This will prepare them for the future when they enter the work environment. Most employers now require the ability to type efficiently so that they can work on a computer. Most employers will not accept those who cannot type.

Typesy allows people to learn to type in a fun and interactive manner. When you are making the lesson plans, you are helping prepare your students for the future and Typesy allows you to do just that with ease. Typesy makes learning fun again and interactive. Students learn to type through video games and other means.

A Message From Our CEO

Dear Typesy Users,

This message pertains to the recent changes to the “Word Work” section of Typesy.

Word Work is a recent addition to Typesy. The feature focuses on building the vocabulary of Typesy users and offers the great benefit of improved language learning, all while learning to type faster.

However, due to a series of oversights, some inappropriate language recently surfaced in the live version of the Word Work usage examples. Due to the young age of many Typesy users, inappropriate language is not acceptable. We take our responsibility to young Typesy users very seriously. For this reason, we have decided to temporarily disable the additional word usage examples in Typesy.

For the time being, word information will be limited to Typesy’s internal dictionary.

We are currently working hard to create a new version that will add a large amount of rich user-edited content to supplement word learning. We expect this to be ready within 1-2 months.

We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Sincerely,
Marc Slater – CEO

What is Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)?

If you work with your hands, you’ve likely heard about the specter of Repetitive Strain Injury. Common especially among typists and other people who work primarily in front of a computer, RSI can be at the very least uncomfortable and distracting, and at the very most a debilitating condition that can take away from your productivity.

Let’s talk about what RSI is, how you can heal it, and — importantly — how you can avoid making it worse.

What Is RSI?

RSI is an umbrella term that very generally refers to pain coming from strain in the hand muscles or tendons that stems from overuse (or inappropriate use). Any kind of routine hand motion that happens in a repetitive fashion (such as typing) can trigger RSI if the appropriate steps are not taken.

What Are Some Symptoms of RSI?

There’s a difference between being tired of typing at the end of a long workday and actually contracting RSI, but it’s a nuanced line. Some of the common symptoms felt by people in the early and continuing stages of RSI are:

Pain in the fingers

Stiff joints and knuckles

A throbbing sensation

Numbness (particularly in the evening)

A weakness in your hands

A hand muscle cramp that doesn’t seem to go away.

If you’re experiencing any of the above conditions, take a moment to examine your typing routine. You may need to switch a few things up to avoid further injury.

How to Treat RSI

If you have already contracted some form of RSI, the first step is to look at your typing routine to see if there are any actionable steps you can take to make sure you can keep doing what you’re doing in a less harmful way. Incorporating frequent rests into your work routine is one such step.

Others include modifying your typing stance, prioritizing good posture while you work, and considering other ways to get your work done (for example, using a voice-to-text converter for long stretches of work).

Preventing RSI

It’s probably best to make sure that you’re not able to get RSI in the first place, as it’s painful and frustrating and definitely easier to heal if it doesn’t get bad in the first place! Experts recommend a general reduction in overall stress to reduce your risk of contracting the disease, so try some breathing exercises or delegating tasks when you can.

Other than that, prioritize resting your hands, and perhaps try some massage therapy to make sure your muscles have time to bounce back between periods of working them. Make sure that your posture while you type is impeccable as well — good form goes a long way towards making sure that your movements are healthy!

Repetitive strain injury is an inconvenience that no one needs to endure. Make sure that you won’t have to by taking the time to optimize your work stance, and take rests whenever you need them! Your hands are important tools. Take care of them.

Typesy Feature: Word Work—Uses and Info

What is Word Work?

This is a feature on Typesy that builds vocabulary. Either using the given word list they provide or creating your own, your child is given a list of words and definitions. They provide examples of the word being used in sentences so the definition becomes clear. After a word is mastered, it can be checked off the list.

Benefits of Word Work?

1. Typing skills and vocabulary-building skills are complementary. Children pick up on information very quickly when it is presented in a way that is direct and easy to understand. Word Work uses a simple interface with minimal features to track how well your child perceives the information. Being able to learn new words should come naturally, and it is a great skill that offers many benefits as the child grows up. An extensive vocabulary is a definite sign of intelligence that both colleges and employers look for.

2. When a child learns new words, one of the best ways to practice using them is in class. Whether they are writing papers or conversing with classmates, the new vocabulary is going to make its appearance. Best used in an educational setting, the Word Work feature can be used as a form of studying.

3. Spelling and vocabulary can be challenging for most children. Typesy helps with this by teaching vocabulary lessons that are to the point. Appearing as a simple list, the task does not appear daunting as your child works through it. A  bonus feature that can be added to the lesson plan that is independent of the typing lessons, this further proves how much Typesy cares about your child’s success and understanding.

How to Use Word Work

As mentioned, there are either pre-made lists that you can assign, or you can create your own. From the administrator perspective, lists can be created that follow themes of current lesson plans, which is a nice integration of skills that need to be learned. As the student, this information is given and the admin can create a test/assignment under the class setting. This ensures that they are not merely memorizing definitions but understanding them fully.
